Domestic Victims of Human Trafficking (DVHT) Program
Ambassadors for Christ
Description
Human trafficking is a serious problem in the United States, and the State of Arkansas is not exempt from it. Victims are often lured by traffickers with false promises of good jobs and better lives, and then forced to work under brutal and inhumane conditions. Due to the hidden nature of the crime, trafficking victims may work in the open, but the coercion that ensnares them is frightening. Even worse, human trafficking robs children of innocence and has devastating effects on their mental and physical well-being. In order to combat the devastation of human trafficking, AFC-Pine Bluff is currently implementing a trauma-informed, strength-based, and victim centered program for domestic victims of severe forms of human trafficking through coordinated case management and the formation of community partnerships. The purpose of the AFC-DVHT program is to:
Increase Outreach and Awareness, and identify domestic victims of severe forms of human trafficking
Expand collaboration and partnerships to implement innovative multi-disciplinary, trauma informed approaches, which includes training and technical assistance for staff and community partners, and
Develop, expand, strengthen, coordinate, and oversee the delivery and/or referral of services (community healthcare, human services, legal services, etc.) that meet victims where they are related to their levels of trauma.
